Once You Learn, You Can’t Unlearn
There’s a lie I often hear when I talk about this with friends, family, anyone really:
“My mum or grandma never worried about this stuff, and they were fine.”
But let’s be honest here! We no longer live in their world.
We live in an old, biased, subconsciously programmed world that’s still running on outdated beliefs. Meanwhile, the world around us has changed quickly, without you realising, hoping you will never notice. Industrialisation, capitalism, profit margins, food, water, skincare, cleaning products… all hijacked for convenience and sales.
So ignorance? It’s not bliss. It’s toxic. Fifty years ago, 90% of the products we see on supermarket shelves today didn’t even exist, and neither did the epidemic levels of chronic disease we’re facing now.
Branding vs. Biology
I still remember one of the first adverts I saw as a child in the Czech Republic. The dish soap "Jar" promised that “the bubbles clean better.” The idea was that because it was more expensive, it must be more effective. Big, fat lie. But brilliant branding.
That’s the story we’ve been sold ever since.
Luxury skincare = purity
Premium cleaning products = safety
Fancy packaging = better quality
But biology doesn’t care about branding. Your skin, your gut, your hormones, they care about inputs, not labels. The beauty industry strips your skin with foaming gels, then sells you lotion to replace the moisture you washed away with your shower gel. The food industry creates the craving, then sells you the antidote.
We’ve been tricked into believing that more products equal more health. The truth is the opposite: less is more. Let's explore how to remove hidden toxins from your life.
My minimalist routine
I fell for all of it in the past, as I’ve already shared this in previous blogs. (blog 5), and these are the results of 15 years of transformation. My bathroom shelf is almost empty now, and my body has never been happier.
Natural soap only on armpits and feet (if they’re actually dirty).
Shampoo and conditioner in bars, not plastic bottles.
Face cleansing with almond oil + Kangen water.
Beauty water as toner.
A few drops of oil + my serum to moisturise.
Almond oil for the whole body.
No chemical cleaning products — my house is cleaned entirely with Kangen water.
Result? Clear skin. No chemical fragrance cloud in my home. Less plastic. Less money wasted. I am not perfect, nor do I think you should ditch everything right away. This is a system that feels lighter, calmer, and cleaner for me. If you implement just one thing from this or make one change, my job is done.
Hidden Toxins in Daily Life
Modern homes are filled with invisible hazards. Decades of research show that household items, from furniture to plastics, often contain hidden toxins, including flame retardants, phthalates, VOCs, and endocrine disruptors. These substances contribute to chronic inflammation, hormonal imbalances, and even neurological changes.
Chlorine in drinking and shower water (dries skin, irritates lungs, forms by-products). Yes, we are lucky to have safe water without bacteria, but at what cost?
Fragrance and VOCs in cleaning sprays, perfumes and candles. We’ve been sold a lie because a nice smell sells better, so we slap it on, hoping to impress.
Plastics and non-stick pans leach hormone-disrupting chemicals. Yes, cheap and convenient, but we are the guinea pigs of the industrial experiments
Lotions to “restore moisture” that was stripped by foaming shower gels in the first place. High and unrealistic standards to look better, to compare to others, to look younger, and as a result, we lost our identity.
It’s a cycle; they create the problem, then they sell you the solution. And we buy it, because marketing is powerful.
Here are 10 common toxic offenders and their safer alternatives:
Offender | Safer Alternative |
Non-stick pans with PFAS | Cast iron, stainless steel |
Plastic food containers, especially heated | Glass jars |
Scented candles & air fresheners (VOCs) | Beeswax or soy candles, essential oils |
Harsh cleaners (bleach/ ammonia) | Vinegar, baking soda, castile soap |
Antibacterial soaps | Gentle soap (non-antibacterial) |
Laundry detergents with fragrances | Fragrance-free, natural detergents |
Vinyl flooring or furniture with flame retardants | Second-hand wood furniture, natural fibre rugs |
Deodorants with parabens/phthalates | Natural deodorant or DIY with baking soda & oil |
Nail polish with toluene/formaldehyde | 3-free or better beauty brands |
Aluminium foil used with acidic foods | Parchment paper or stainless lids |
Why Kangen became my best investment
When I bought my Kangen K8, it wasn’t just for drinking water. It was because I wanted one device that could simplify my life.
This single machine gives me:
Drinking water I actually want to drink - filtering chlorine and microplastics, no more plastic pollution or chlorinated water, also ionised, alkaline, and full of hydrogen for better hydration and recovery
Beauty water for skin and hair care.
Strong alkaline water (11.5) for washing vegetables and degreasing.
Strong acidic water (2.5) for disinfecting surfaces without chemicals.
Neutral water for cooking, teas, and daily use.
One device, endless applications. It replaced dozens of products in my home. It reduced waste, plastic, and clutter. And most importantly, it reduced the toxic load on my body.
Health is one part. Money is the other
Here’s the part most people don’t consider: the math.
Think about it:
If you’re buying bottled water, even at £2 a day, that’s £730 a year per person.
Add in cleaning sprays, toners, micellar water, veggie washes, disinfectants — they all add up.
With Kangen, you replace most of these with water from one device.
Yes, the upfront cost is around £4,000. However, if you look at what you stop buying as a result, the return on investment is surprisingly fast. For a family, it can be less than a year. For individuals, it can be as little as 2–3 years.
After that? It’s savings.
Less is more
Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
When you remove hidden toxins, you feel the difference:
Clearer skin
More energy
A calmer nervous system
A lighter house and lighter bills
Your grandma didn’t worry about toxins because she didn’t live in today’s world. You do. And once you learn this, you can’t unlearn it. But you can choose differently.
